GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Thiel College Women's Basketball freshman Emily Betsinger (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) was named the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Newcomer of the Week for the second straight week and third time this season, as announced by the league office Monday afternoon. 

The center helped the Tomcats to a 72-55 victory over Penn State Beaver last Monday, improving their record to 4-5 overall, their best start since the 2016-17 season. 

Betsinger was 11-for-16 from the floor and 2-for-2 from the foul line, leading all scorers with a career-most 24 points. She added nine rebounds, six of which came on the offensive glass, along with an assist and steal each in the win. 

The Indiana, Pa. product is tied for second in the PAC in field-goal percentage at .571 (48-of-84). Her mark in rebounds per game (7.4) is 10th in the league while her 12.2 points per showdown sits in the top 20 of the conference.

The Tomcats return to action tomorrow for a 7 p.m. non-conference clash at Carlow. The Blue and Gold hold a 7-1 series edge of the Celtics, having taken each of the last four meetings. Tomorrow's matchup will be the first between the two programs since 2009 when the Tomcats left Pittsburgh with a 63-57 triumph.
