ALTOONA, Pa. (Oct. 6) -- The Thiel College Men's Golf team finished play Monday afternoon at Penn State Altoona's two-day Sinking Valley Classic from Sinking Valley CC. The Tomcats placed 17th of 20 teams in the large-scale event with a 673.
Thiel shot a 344 in round one and a 329 in round two, a 15-stroke improvement.
Eli Nicklas (Erie, Pa./Northwest Pennsylvania Collegiate Academy) tied for 60th in the 106-golfer field with a 165. He fired an 87 in round one and followed that up with a 78 in round two.
Brady Rzodkiewicz (Harborcreek, Pa./Harbor Creek) tied for 65th with a 166 as he carded an 83 in each round.
Joe Grundy (Saegertown, Pa./Saegertown) tied for 71st with a 169. He posted an 88 in round one and improved by seven strokes with an 81 in round two.
Jackson Gadsby (Sandy Lake, Pa./Lakeview) tied for 81st with a first-round 86 and second-round 87 for a 173.
Tommy Burns (Buffalo, N.Y./Williamsville North) was 98th with a 93 in each round for a 186.
The Tomcats are back in action next Monday and Tuesday in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Fall Championships from Avalon Lakes GC in Warren, Ohio.
