GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) announced the 2024 Men's Volleyball Pre-Season Coaches' Poll and Players to Watch list Tuesday morning.
The Tomcats were picked to finish third out of 10 teams. Junior
Jake Dies (Cambridge Springs, Pa./Cambridge Springs) and sophomore libero
Cameron Long (Rock Hill, S.C./Legion Collegiate Academy) were named players to watch for the Tomcats this season.
Dies, who earned AMCC All-Conference Second Team accolades last season, led the team in service aces (35), blocks (60), and matches played (28) last season. Dies was third on the team in kills (160), kills per set (1.76), and points (233).
Long, who earned AMCC All-Conference Third Team honors last season, finished 17
th in the NCAA in digs per set (3.02) last season, which was second best in the AMCC. He also racked up 278 digs, the third most in the AMCC last season.
Penn-State Behrend was picked to finish first, followed by defending AMCC champion Geneva picked to finish second. Penn-State Behrend's Alex Jackson and Saint Vincent's Matthew Minkin were named AMCC Preseason Co-Players of the Year.
The AMCC Men's Volleyball Championship Tournament will feature the top six teams, with the semifinals and championship match held at the site of the #1 seed.
The Tomcats open the season at home on Wednesday, January 17 against St. Norbert College. The non-conference game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
