GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's and women's track & field teams hosted the Thiel Tomcat Invitational on Saturday.
The women's team was led by
Tumba Powell (Cleveland, Ohio/Charles F. Brush) who recorded two top-seven finishes. She recorded a seventh-place finish in the women's 200-meter dash (26.82) and a second-place finish in the women's 400-meter dash (1:00.58).
Hannah Strott (Mogadore, Ohio/Field) also recorded two top-ten finishes with a fourth-place finish in the women's 800-meter run (2:29.27) and a 10
th place finish in the women's 1,500-meter run (5:04.93).
In the women's field events,
Kaylee Suarez (Youngstown, Ohio/Mineral Ridge) led the Tomcats by tying for first-place in the women's high jump with Chatham's Aurielle Brunner with a mark of 1.57 meters. In the women's triple jump,
Alexis McFadden (Kennerdell, Pa./Franklin Area) recorded an eighth-place finish with a mark of 9.95 meters. In the women's discus throw,
Brooke Mottley (Rock Creek, Ohio/Geneva) recorded an eighth-place finish with a mark of 31.19 meters.
Isabelle Iliev (Olian, N.Y./Greenville) recorded a fourth-place finish in the women's javelin throw with a mark of 34.29 meters.
For the men's team,
Brock Newsome (Clyde, Ohio/Clyde) led the way with two top-seven finishes. He recorded a seventh-place finish in the men's 800-meter run (2:01.91) and a third=place finish in the men's 1,500-meter run (4:08.11).
Quintin Weaver (Rimersburg, Pa./Union) finished tenth in the men's 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:17.15.
Andre Williams (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Boyd H. Anderson) led the men's field team with a first-place finish in the men's triple jump with a new personal best of 14.11 meters. His mark from today is the 26
th best mark in all of Division III this season.
The Tomcats had three top-six finishes in the men's long jump.
Peyton Ennis (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek) (6.61 meters),
Andre Williams (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Boyd H. Anderson) (6.48 meters) and
Caleb Learn (Homer City, Pa./Homer Center) (6.29 meters) finished third, fifth and sixth, respectively.
Nicholas Kobielus (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex Area) recorded two top-ten finishes. In the men's shot put, he finished tenth with a mark of 12.11 meters. In the men's javelin throw, he finished fifth with a mark of 50.05 meters.
The Tomcats will wrap up their season on Thursday, April 27 and Friday, April 28 when they compete in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Outdoor Championships hosted by West Virginia University.
