YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Thiel College men's and women's track & field teams competed in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Track & Field Championships Thursday at Youngstown State University's Watson and Tressel Training Site (WATTS).
Malik Beckford (Margate, Fla./J.P. Taravella),
Charity Hall (Niles, Ohio/Warren G. Harding) and
Justin Pearce (Leechburg, Pa./Kiski Prep) led the Tomcats. Beckford won the 60-meter hurdles (8.47 seconds) while
Frank Fugman (Aurora, Ohio/Crestwood) finished eighth (9.32 seconds). In the women's 60-meter hurdles,
Charity Hall (Niles, Ohio/Warren G. Harding) finished second (9.21 seconds). Pearce placed second in the shot put (13.73 meters).
Sam Faber (Greenville, Pa./Reynolds) scored a pair of top-four finishes. He placed third in the weight throw (14.36 meters) and fourth in the shot put (13.10 meters).
Josephine Oscar (Windsor, Ohio/Grand Valley) placed sixth in the shot put (10.65 meters) while
Kaylee Guy (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) took seventh in the weight throw (11.83 meters).
In other women's field events,
Paiton Rizzo (Rimersburg, Pa./Redbank Valley) finished fifth in the long jump (4.86 meters) and eighth in the triple jump (9.86 meters). For the men's team,
Peyton Ennis (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek) finished sixth in the long jump (6.39 meters) while
Caleb Learn (Homer City, Pa./Homer Center) tied for sixth in the high jump (1.80 meters).
On the track, for the men's team,
Brock Newsome (Clyde, Ohio/Clyde) finished the one-mile run in 4:34.39 to finish seventh.
Hunter Hause (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) (52.07 seconds) and
Isaac Evans (Youngwood, Pa./Belle Vernon Area) (2:00.02) placed eighth in the 400-meter dash and the 800-meter run, respectively.
Tumba Powell (Cleveland, Ohio/Charles F. Brush) led the women's team on the track with a seventh-place effort in the 400-meter dash (1:03.58).
The men's medley relay team placed fourth while the 400-meter team placed sixth. The women's medley relay team and 400-meter team both finished seventh.
Thiel's men's team finished seventh overall. The women's team placed ninth.
Junior
William Watkins (Cockeysville, Md./Dulaney) and freshman
Taylor Pegg (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) were Thiel's representatives on the PAC Sportsmanship Teams.
