WASHINGTON, Pa. – The eighth-seeded Thiel Tomcats were defeated 5-0 Tuesday in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament quarterfinal match on the road against the top-seeded Washington & Jefferson Presidents.
The match was played to decision after the teams were forced to play indoors due to inclement weather.
Cole Duskey (Orrville, Ohio/Orrville) and
Trent Brady (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) lost 8-4 at first doubles to Nate Wang and Sam Bellini.
Tyler Feciuch (Kent, Ohio/Field) and
Christian Conrad (Barberton, Ohio/Central Catholic) were defeated 8-1 at third doubles to Josh Hnat and Cole Hartman.
This year's PAC Championship Tournament features a team bracket format. The conference had sponsored a flighted championship with individual players and doubles pairings exclusively seeded and not based on a team's regular season finish since its first championship event in 1956. This year's team champion will secure the PAC's automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III Championships.
