TRAFFORD, Pa. (May 12) -- Thiel College Men's Tennis player Tyrus Horton (Fuquay Varina, N.C./Athens Drive) earned All-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Second Team honors at No. 1 singles while Pierson Badowski (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) and Trey Grazier (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) received Honorable Mention recognition at No. 2 doubles.
Horton put together a strong season for the Tomcats at the top singles flight, recording five victories. He opened his collegiate career with wins over Josh Neidert of Lycoming and Michael Opal of Pitt Greensburg.
During the spring season, Horton earned a marquee conference victory over eventual All-PAC First Team selection Braiden Smalley of Geneva on March 19, rallying for a 2-6, 7-6 (7-4), 10-8 win. He also posted a straight-sets victory over Ryan Crissman of Westminster and defeated Jacob Bennett of W&J, 6-3, 2-6, 10-7, on March 30.
In doubles play, Horton and Bret Vilage (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) added two wins at the No. 1 position.
Badowski and Grazier were multi-sport athletes who joined the team in the spring after competing for the Thiel men's soccer team in the fall. The junior duo provided valuable depth at No. 2 doubles and played an important role in the continued development of the program.
