GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College wrestling team hosted a tri-match against Lycoming College and Jamestown (N.Y.) Community College Friday evening at Beeghly Gymnasium.
The Tomcats fell to the Lycoming Warriors 41-6 before earning a 44-6 win over the Jamestown Community College Jayhawks.
Thiel picked up a pair of wins against Lycoming.
Jason Baker (New Alexandria, Pa. /Derry Area) won 8-3 over Ethan Landis at 141-pounds while
Gage Gladysz (Greenville, Pa./Greenville), who is ranked eighth in the country by d3wrestle.com at 197-pounds, won 7-2 over Brody Keefe.
The Tomcats won nine matches against the Jayhawks.
Jake Alberts (Ellwood City/Lincoln ),
Dylan Proper (Titusville, Pa./Maplewood) and
Gavin Colligan (Portville, N.Y./Portville) all picked up bonus points for Thiel. Alberts won by technical fall (19-1) in 5:52 at 133 over Jomar Medero. Proper pinned Jesse Storch in 1:08 at 184 while Colligan won by fall over Jacob Smith at heavyweight in 4:43.
The Tomcats will return to action Saturday, Nov. 23 when they compete in the Baldwin Wallace Invitational.
