BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Thiel College men's tennis team dropped a close 5-4 decision to the Geneva Golden Tornadoes in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest.
Cole Duskey (Orrville, Ohio/Orrville) and
Thad Paunovich (Avonmore, Pa./Kiski Area) both picked up two wins for the Tomcats. Duskey and Paunovich teamed up to take down Eric Abbott and Evan Shaw 8-6 in No. 1 doubles. In singles action, Duskey defeated Abbott in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2, in No. 1 singles. Paunovich won his match in No. 2 singles over Jesse Hooke, 6-2, 6-7, 10-3.
Alex Horvatits (Lancaster, N.Y./Saint Mary's ) dropped the first set in No. 5 singles to Caleb Hoal, 5-7 but Horvatits rebounded to win the final two sets 6-4, 10-6.
The Tomcats will be back in action Saturday, April 16 when they take on the Thomas More Saints. The match is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. from New Wilmington, Pa.
