Men's Tennis Defeats Pitt-Greensburg

Greensburg, Pa. — The Tomcat men's tennis team defeated the Panthers of Pitt-Greensburg 7-2 on Sunday evening in Greensburg, Pa.
 
In doubles competition, the Tomcats swept for the first time, taking all three doubles matches. Richard Parks (Penn Hills, Pa./Penn Hills) and Collin McAndrew (Dayton, Ohio/General McLane) defeated C.J. Prince and Steven Kim 8-2 at number one doubles. Jian Long Zheng (Fujian, China/Quanzhou ZianDi ) and Daniel Dunlevy won 8-5 at number two doubles, and Shun Kogai (Tokyo, Japan/) and Erik Serjeant (Arnold, Pa./Valley) took an 8-1 victory at number three.
 
The Tomcats then clinched the victory with Parks and McAndrew both picking up wins in singles play. Parks defeated Prince 6-0, 6-1 at number one singles, and McAndrew disposed of Navid Pourarian 6-3, 6-3 at number two singles. With the contest wraped up for the Tomcats, Thiel added two more individual victories as Kogai defeated Andrew Smeltzer 6-0, 6-0 at number five, and Roger Irby (Transfer, Pa./Greenville) notched his first victory as a Tomcat, defeating Ben Kastriba 6-1, 6-3 at number six.
 
The Tomcats will return to action on Wednesday March 4, when they take on D'Youville College in Erie, Pa. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start time.
