GREENVILLE, Pa. - Thiel's
Zach Kubec (Geneva, Ohio, Geneva) won in both singles and doubles for the second straight match, but it wasn't enough as the Tomcats fell 6-3 to visiting Westminster in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) men's tennis match Thursday.
Kubec defeated the Titans' Sean Black, 6-3, 6-3, for his third straight win at No. 4 singles. He also teamed up with
Louie Rubin (Lock Haven, Pa., Central Mountain) as the duo won for the second straight time at No. 2 doubles, beating Derek Fredrickson and Brad Thomas 8-2.
Jian Long Zheng (Fujian, China, Quanzhou ZianDi ) picked up his second individual win of the season, topping Westminster's Fredrickson, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 2 singles.
The match with Westminster was the first of four matches in a three-day span for the Tomcats. They will host Pitt-Greensburg on Friday and both Edinboro and Malone on Saturday.
