BETHANY, W.Va. — Bethany College swept visiting Thiel, 9-0, in a Presidents' Athletic Conference men's tennis match Wednesday.
No Tomcat players were shut out and several had competitive matches.
Zach Kubec (Geneva, Ohio, Geneva), the lone winner Sunday in a loss to Muskingum, fell to Jared Patrick, 7-5, 7-5, at No. 3 singles. At No. 6 singles,
Kirt Strock (Zanesville, Ohio, Tri-Valley) was a 6-3, 7-5 loser to Evan Oslund.
Two Thiel doubles teams played well in a losing effort. Kubec and
Louie Rubin (Lock Haven, Pa., Central Mountain) lost 8-6 at No. 2 doubles while Jian Long Zehng and
Matt Hadden (Franklin, Pa., Rocky Grove) fell 8-4 at No. 1 doubles.
The Tomcats will return to action Friday with a home match against Thomas More.
