CLARION, Pa. — Jamar Harrison scored 26 points and Lloyd Harrison added 21 points as Clarion, ranked 28th in Division II, cruised to a 91-62 win over visiting Thiel in a non-conference men's basketball game.
The undefeated Golden Eagles (7-0) were the third and final Division II opponent of the season for the Tomcats, who played a tough non-conference schedule. That should help coach
Tim Loomis' squad as they shoot for the Presidents' Athletic Conference title with 12 of their final 14 games coming against league opponents.
Unlike their other Division II opponents — Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Edinboro — who the Tomcats played close, Clarion jumped out to a big lead early and never let up. A 16-3 run midway through the first half put the Golden Eagles up 26-10, a lead they would extend to 47-23 at the break.
Thiel played close to even with Clarion in the second half with the Golden Eagles holding a slight 44-39 advantage.
Blair Rozenblad (Youngstown, Ohio, Kennedy Catholic) was the top scorer for the Tomcats with 26 points, including 10 of his team's 23 points in the first half. Rozenblad, who has received two straight PAC Player of the Week honors, also pulled down eight rebounds and had two steals.
Aundra Jones (Youngstown, Ohio, Kennedy Catholic) had 14 points and nine rebounds,
Lance Randall (Canfield, Ohio, Ursuline) bucketed 10 points and
Devon Adams (Philadelphia, Pa., George Junior Republic) contributed six rebounds, three steals and two blocks.
The Tomcats drop to 6-4 with the loss but have won both of their conference games. They will host Bethany in a PAC matchup at 8 p.m. Monday.
