TRAFFORD, Pa. (Sept. 7) -- Thiel College Women's Soccer freshman
Liz Scheeff (Olmsted Falls, Ohio/Olmsted Falls) was named the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Newcomer of the Week Monday evening following the Tomcats' dominant 12-0 win at Penn State Beaver Sunday.
Scheeff is the first Tomcat to earn Newcomer of the Week status since teammate
Imogen deBlois (Hubbard, Ohio/Howland) in 2024 and is just the third player in team history to earn the distinction.
Scheeff distributed a PAC- and Thiel-record-tying four assists in yesterday's triumph while adding a pair of first-half goals. Scheeff's eight points are tied for the third-most in team history, while her four assists tied Laura Simonetti's program-and-conference record set in 2002.
All four of Scheeff's assists led to goals from deBlois, who netted a PAC-record six goals in the win.
Yesterday's triumph marked the first of the
Zack Walters era for the Tomcats and is tied for the second-largest margin of victory in program history. Thiel's 12 goals are tied for the second-most in program history and are the most since Sept. 4, 2013, also a 12-0 victory over the Nittany Lions. The Tomcats also set a program record with nine assists as a team.
Thiel returns home for a two-match homestand this week, hosting Pitt Bradford Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. and Hilbert Saturday at 5 p.m. for Senior Night.
