GREENVILLE, Pa. (Sept. 5) — The Thiel College women's soccer team fell to Alfred State, 1-0, Saturday afternoon at Alumni Stadium at Stoeber Field.
Alfred State struck early, scoring just 52 seconds into the match to give the Pioneers a 1-0 lead.
The Tomcats responded with offensive pressure throughout the opening half. Julia Fallon (Geneva, Ohio/Geneva) and Marissa Tiber (Burton, Ohio/Berkshire) each put shots on goal, while Imogen deBlois (Hubbard, Ohio/Howland) and Liz Scheeff (Olmsted Falls, Ohio/Olmsted Falls) added multiple attempts.
Thiel continued to battle in the second half but was unable to find the equalizer. The Tomcats recorded 11 shots on the afternoon, with three finding the frame, and earned six corner kicks. Brynn Houser (Harmony, Pa./Seneca Valley) made three saves in goal for Thiel.
The Blue and Gold return to action on Sunday, Sept. 6 as they travel to Penn State Beaver for a noon contest.
