BEAVER FALLS, Pa. (Sept. 6) -- The Thiel College Women's Soccer team dominated Penn State Beaver 12-0 Sunday afternoon behind a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC)-record six goals from Imogen deBlois (Hubbard, Ohio/Howland) and a PAC-record-tying four assists from Liz Scheeff (Olmsted Falls, Ohio/Olmsted Falls) in a non-conference clash at Wright Field.
The win marks the first of the Zack Walters era for the Tomcats (1-1-0) and is tied for the second-largest margin of victory in program history. Thiel's 12 goals are tied for the second-most in program history and are the most since Sept. 4, 2013, also a 12-0 victory over the Nittany Lions (0-2-0). The Tomcats also set a program record with nine assists as a team.
deBlois' 12 points (6 g, 0 a) set a program record and are the second-most in PAC history. She now ranks fourth in program history in career goals (19) and points (43). Scheeff's eight points (2 g, 4 a) are tied for the third-most in team history, while her four assists tied Laura Simonetti's program record set in 2002.
deBlois got the scoring started early for Thiel with her first goal of the season just 2:25 into the contest off an assist from Scheeff. She netted her second just over 10 minutes later from Stacie Weimert (Jamestown, Pa./Jamestown) before Scheeff chipped in her first collegiate goal with 25 minutes remaining in the half to make it 3-0.
At the midway point of the half, deBlois completed her first-half hat trick off another Scheeff assist before Scheeff logged her second goal of the afternoon from an Ashley Ross (Springdale, Pa./Springdale) helper. The Tomcats tacked on their final goal of the frame when Marissa Tiber (Burton, Ohio/Berkshire) buried a header off an Abbey Balentine (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) assist.
Thiel's six first-half goals are its most since Sept. 5, 2024, when the Tomcats scored nine against Penn State Beaver. deBlois' first-half hat trick is the third in program history and the first since she accomplished the feat against Penn State New Kensington on Sept. 18, 2024.
The goals continued to pour in during the second half as deBlois and Scheeff connected twice more within the opening 15 minutes to extend Thiel's lead to 8-0. Freshmen Julia Fallon (Geneva, Ohio/Geneva) and Holly Biesenkamp (Hopewell, Pa./Hopewell) added their first collegiate goals in the 71st and 74th minutes, respectively, before deBlois added her PAC-record sixth goal in the 81st minute.
Ross capped the scoring with a penalty-kick goal in the 88th minute to produce the 12-0 final.
Weimert finished with a pair of assists in the victory, moving into a tie for fifth in program history with eight career helpers. Ross recorded a goal and an assist for a career-high 3 points.
Brynn Houser (Harmony, Pa./Seneca Valley) made the start in goal and was credited with her first collegiate win. Madison Rodgers (Reinholds, Pa./Cocalico), Ariel Carney (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) and Jasmine Carney (Dubois, Pa./DuBois) also saw time between the pipes for the Tomcats, with Ariel Carney (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) making one save.
Thiel returns home for a two-match homestand this week, hosting Pitt Bradford Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. and Hilbert Saturday at 5 p.m. for Senior Night.
