GREENVILLE, Pa. -- The Thiel College women's lacrosse team dropped their senior day contest to Geneva in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play Saturday afternoon.
Thiel honored seniors
Shayla Foster (East Liverpool, Ohio/East Liverpool),
Aidrianna Green (East Liverpool, Ohio/East Liverpool),
Makayla Hall (Atlantic, Pa./Conneaut Area),
Hannah Miller (Ambridge, Pa./Ambridge), and
Hayden Wightman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) prior to the match this afternoon.
Geneva notched a pair goals to begin the game and take the lead. The Tomcats responded with their first of the day by freshman
Elise Tiber (Burton, Ohio/Berkshire), who scored her first collegiate goal. Wightman followed right after with her first of the day to end the quarter at two a piece.
Both teams remained quiet throughout the second quarter with Geneva scoring only one in the 15 minutes.
Out the gate in the third,
Camille Turner (Conneaut Lake, Pa./Conneaut Area) notched her only goal of the game unassisted to tie it at 3-3.
Wightman powered the offense the rest of the way, scoring three more goals, two of which were assisted by Hall and Turner.
With two minutes remaining in the game, Thiel got their final score on the board but came up short against the Golden Tornadoes.
In net,
Edith Lithkousky (Carthage, N.Y./Carthage Central) made six saves and grabbed three ground balls.
Makayla Flock (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Salem) and Foster both grabbed three ground balls, Foster with three caused turnovers, and Flock with two.
Serrenah Peterson (Greenville, Pa./Commodore Perry) and Turner each had three caused turnovers as Turner grabbed two draw controls.
The Blue and Gold are back in action on Monday, Apr. 20 as they travel up to Meadville, Pa. to take on Allegheny at 4 p.m.
