Track & Field to host trio of July clinics

GREENVILLE, Pa. (June 26) – Thiel College Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Jessi Juarez has announced three summer clinics designed to help high school athletes improve their speed, technique and overall athletic performance.

The Tomcats will host an Athletic Clinic on Saturday, July 11, followed by a High Jump Clinic along with a Hurdles Clinic on Saturday, July 18. All three clinics will take place at the Stamm Track & Field Complex on Thiel College's campus.

The Athletic Clinic is open to athletes entering grades 9-12 and will run from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at a cost of $55. Interested participants can click here to register. The deadline to claim your spot is July 10.

The clinic will focus on developing speed, agility and movement skills that translate across numerous sports. The first portion of the clinic will feature instruction from Juarez on the biomechanics of sprinting, emphasizing force application, acceleration, posture and efficient movement patterns. The second half will be led by head Women's Flag Football coach Jon Bevier and will focus on agility, change of direction, reaction time, balance and coordination through a variety of high-energy drills. While inspired by flag football, the clinic is designed to benefit athletes competing in any sport.

On July 18, Thiel will offer two specialized event clinics for athletes looking to refine their technical skills. The Hurdles Clinic will run from 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m, and interested athletes can register here. The High Jump Clinic will follow from 2 - 4:30 p.m., and interested participants can register here. Each clinic will cost $60 with registration closing on July 17.

The Hurdles Clinic will provide instruction on hurdle mechanics, rhythm, mobility and race-specific techniques to help athletes improve efficiency and consistency over the barriers. The clinic is designed for both beginning and experienced hurdlers looking to elevate their performance.

Later that afternoon, the High Jump Clinic will focus on advanced technical instruction, including postural integrity, approach mechanics, acceleration and event-specific drills. The clinic is intended for athletes with previous high jump experience who are looking to deepen their understanding of the event and improve their performance.
