TRAFFORD, Pa. (May 13) -- Thiel College Baseball standout Calvin Cackowski (Wickliffe, Ohio/Wickliffe) was named to the All-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) First Team while Zach Smith (Steubenville, Ohio/Steubenville) received Honorable Mention distinction, as announced in the PAC Awards Show Wednesday evening.

Now a two-time First Team pick, Cackowski finished his stellar senior season in Greenville with 11 home runs, which is tied for third-most in team history, and 49 RBIs, the fifth-most in team history. His 11 long balls were third-best in the PAC while his 49 RBIs led the league. 

Cackowski was fourth in the conference in slugging percentage (.685) and 10th in the PAC in on-base percentage (.473). His 1.158 OPS was fourth-best in the league as he was 1-of-10 qualified conference hitters to have an OPS greater than 1.000. Cackowski's 87 total bases were fifth-most in the league.

An All-Region pick last season, Cackowski raked 23 career home runs, the fifth-most in program history. He also drove in 110 runs while smacking 130 career hits.

Smith provided a breakout year at the dish, leading the team and finishing tied for 15th in the league in hitting (.360). His .471 OBP was second on the team and 11th in the conference.

Smith collected at least one hit in 26 of 35 contests while posting 13 multi-hit efforts. In a 14-inning marathon at Saint Vincent on April 17, Smith finished 5-for-8 as he set a new Thiel record for at bats (eight). His five hits were tied for third-most in a game in team history while his 4 runs scored tied the program record.
