GREENVILLE, Pa. (April 28) -- The Thiel College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted its fifth annual Tommys Awards Show Saturday evening in Bly Hall. The Tommys honor and recognize the top Thiel student-athletes, as well as the feats and accomplishments that have occurred during the 2025-26 athletic and academic year.
Ezra Oesterling was named Male MVP after guiding Men's Volleyball to its second-straight PAC title and NCAA Tournament appearance. Issy Green collected Female MVP honors after leading Women's Basketball to six victories, its most in a season since 2019. Oesterling and Green were both named Newcomers of the Year at last year's Tommys.
After completing a dominant season and winning the 157-pound PAC championship for Wrestling, Jonathan Bissell was named Male Newcomer of the Year. Emily Betsinger brought home Female Newcomer of the Year after posting one of the top seasons by a PAC freshman for Women's Basketball.
Nathaniel Turner was named Male Breakthrough Athlete of the Year after posting solid seasons for Cross Country and Track and Field. Caitlin Stephens was tabbed as the Female Breakthrough Athlete of the Year after starring for both Women's Basketball and Women's Volleyball.
Men's Volleyball winning back-to-back PAC Championships was named the Moment of the Year, while head coach Henry Gorton and assistant coach David Gonzalez '25 brought home Coaching Staff of the Year honors.
After securing its fifth-straight top-three Nationals finish, Cheerleading was named the Team of the Year.
The Tommys once again highlighted a historic year for Thiel Athletics, celebrating the continued rise and success of its student-athletes both in competition and in the classroom. With record-breaking performances, championship moments and sustained excellence across multiple programs, the evening served as a testament to the dedication, resilience and pride that define the Tomcat community.
