BETHANY, W. Va. (March 25) -- The Thiel College Men's Lacrosse team, behind a seven-goal effort from
Joey King (Cooperstown, Pa./Maplewood), posted a 16-9 triumph at Bethany College Wednesday evening in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action from Bison Stadium.
The Tomcats rise to 2-7 (1-1) on the year as they collect their first league victory since 2023, which was also over the Bison (1-7, 0-1).
Logan Millie (Fairview, Pa./Fairview) got Thiel started strong with a goal off the opening faceoff won by
Austin Parker (Titusville, Pa./Maplewood). King netted his first goal of the game while
Quentin Cato (Rochester, N.Y./Gates Chili) and Millie also added goals as the score was 4-4 after 15 minutes.
Thiel outscored Bethany 4-1 in the second quarter as Cato netted all four Thiel goals to put the Cats ahead 8-5 at the break. King added three third-period goals while Millie posted one more as the score sat at 12-8 heading into the fourth.
Thiel put the nail in the coffin with the first four goals of the final frame, three of which came from King, to make it 16-8. The home side added a garbage-time goal late to spell the 16-9 final.
King's seven goals are a career high and are tied for seventh-most in a game in team history. He added one assists for 8 points to go with a pair of caused turnovers.
Cato finished with five goals and three helpers, both of which were career highs, to tally 8 points. He grabbed four ground balls in the win. Millie recorded four goals and two helpers for 6 points along with six ground balls.
Parker won 13-of-22 faceoffs, snared four ground balls and dished out one helper.
Chase Kyler (Sheffield, Pa./Sheffield) had a pair of assists while
Hunter Crouse (Lyndhurst, Ohio/Charles F. Brush) and
Joshua Larabee (North Greece, N.Y./Hilton Central) each had one.
Ethan Narby (Bath, N.Y./Haverling) made nine saves in goal to collect his second victory of the season.
Dom Baker (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) logged a game-high-tying three caused turnovers.
Thiel is back in action Saturday for a 7 p.m. league tilt at Franciscan.
