The Tomcats fall to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in PAC action while the Gators rise to 1-2 (1-0).
Allegheny opened the game with an 11-play drive resulting in a touchdown. The ensuing 2-point try was unsuccessful. The Thiel defense forced an unsuccessful 44-yard field goal from the Gators later in the quarter as the home side added a second score late in the first to lead 13-0.
The Tomcats amassed a 12-play drive that took over 6 minutes off the clock late in the second half but were stymied on fourth down and came up empty handed in the redzone.
The Gators found the endzone on their first drive of the second half, but were unable to convert the 2-point try as the lead sat at 19-0.
A roughing the punter penalty kept a Thiel drive alive as the Tomcats marched down the field in the third quarter. Looking to get on the board from the 10-yard line,
Na'Jier Howard (Struthers, Ohio/East) was picked off inside the 1. The home side added one more score in the fourth quarter to spell the 26-0 final.
Howard finished 13-of-28 for 81 yards. He totaled 14 yards on the ground.
