KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Aug. 1, 2025) -- The Thiel College soccer programs were recently awarded the United Soccer Coaches College Team Academic Award for the 2024-25 academic year.
The award is given to programs that earn a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher. United Soccer Coaches honored a total of 697 collegiate programs (283 men, 414 women) for the 2024-25 academic year. Of that total, 151 schools had both men's and women's programs recognized across all divisions.
Led by head coach Zack Walters, the Thiel men's soccer team has earned this award for five straight seasons. The team earned a 3.15 GPA for the 2024-25 academic year.
Grant Becker (North Olmsted, Ohio/North Olmsted), Logan Smith (Girard, Pa./Girard), and Derek Thomas (Poland, Ohio/Poland) were awarded Academic All-District honors selected by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) after the 2024 season.
The Thiel women's soccer team earned this award for the third time in program history. Led by head coach Carl Dei Cas, the team earned a 3.45 GPA for the 2024-25 school year.
Men's Soccer looks to open their season at Pitt-Greensburg on August 29th at 3 p.m. as the Women's team heads to La Roche to compete at 5 p.m.
