GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Thiel College Men's Soccer players
Derek Thomas (Poland, Ohio/Poland),
Andy Mangold (Bradford, Pa./Bradford Area),
Mitchell Strauss (Bradford, Pa./Bradford Area),
Joey Kushon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Deer Lakes), and
Grant Becker (North Olmsted, Ohio/North Olmsted) collected Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Tuesday afternoon.
The 2025-26 Academic All-District Men's and Women's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To be eligible for academic all-district status, a student-athlete must compete in 90 percent of the institution's matches played or start in at least two-thirds of the team's games. An undergraduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA.
Starting all 18 matches for Thiel and for the second time in his career, Thomas earned CSC honors. A strong point on the back line, he tallied two goals on the season.
Mangold led Thiel's offense with four goals, including one game winning goal against Hilbert College.
After battling a small injruy, Strauss helped the Tomcats to two game winning goals during their 2025 campaign and recorded a team high three assists.
Kushon played in all 18 matches for the Tomcats and played a total of 1,000 minutes on the year.
For the second time, Becker was team captain for the Tomcats and led the team in minutes played with 1,599. He tallied one assist and eight shots on goal for the year. Becker advances to the CSC All-American finalist round announced in mid December.
