NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Thiel College Women's Lacrosse team dropped their Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match-up 13-9 to Westminster College Saturday afternoon at UPMC Sports Complex.
The Tomcats fall to 8-2 on the regular season, and 2-2 in conference play, as the Titans advance to 9-2 overall and 4-1 in the PAC.
Despite being down 10-3 at the half, the Tomcats came out fighting in the third quarter outscoring the Titans 4-1. Skylar Garlick (Fort Loudon, Pa./James Buchanan) had a pair of back-to-back goals, Hayden Wightman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) scored a free position shot and Ashlyn Wightman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) notched one in the back of the net only 18 seconds after Westminster's goal.
Ashlyn had five goals on the day, two assists, six draw controls and three ground balls, while Garlick had two goals, ground balls and caused turnovers.
Meg Gill (Columbia, S.C./Blythewood) added one herself in the first quarter, along with two ground balls, four draw controls and an assist.
Senior goalkeeper Madison Liggett (Baltimore, Md./Catholic) was faced with 38 shots, made 13 saves and picked up four ground balls.
The Tomcats are back in action on Monday, April 7 when they travel to Beaver Falls, Pa. To take on the Genva Golden Tornadoes. The PAC contest is scheduled to begin at 3:30 at Wright Field in Veterans Park.
