TRAFFORD, Pa. (April 27) -- The Thiel College Women's Lacrosse Team has clinched the No. 5 seed in next weeks Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament and will take on No. 4 Westminster College from UPMC Field at 6 p.m. Tuesday, the league office announced Sunday afternoon.
For the second consecutive season and 3rd time in the last 5 years, the Tomcats have qualified for the year-end conference tournament. The Blue and Gold were bested at No. 4 Chatham 9-8 last season in a late-game heart breaker. In 2021, Thiel fell in the championship game at No. 1 Washington and Jefferson after defeating No. 2 Chatham in the semifinals.
Grove City earned the top seed in the 2025 tournament while W&J is the No. 2 seed. Both teams will receive first-round byes. Chatham is the No. 3 seed and will host No. 6 Allegheny Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Thiel/Westminster winner will play at Grove City while the Chatham/Allegheny victor will be hosted by W&J. Semifinal action will take place Thursday at 7 p.m. with the winners facing off in Saturday's 1 p.m. title game at the highest remaining seed.
The winner of the Championship Tournament will earn the PAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The Tomcats opened the season 6-0, their best start to a season in program history. Thiel finished the year with an 11-4 mark and tied the 2013 and 2015 squads for the most wins in a season in team history.
The Blue and Gold aim to join the 2013 Tomcats as the only teams in program history to win the PAC.
