GREENVILLE, Pa. -- The Thiel College Men's Lacrosse team dropped their Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match-up 19-7 against Franciscan University Wednesday afternoon in the Rissell-Schreyer Dome.
Thiel drops to 1-8 on the regular season and 0-2 in conference play, while the Barons advance to 3-6 overall and 1-2 in the PAC.
Goalkeeper Ethan Narby (Bath, N.Y./Haverling) had a record setting day making 30 saves off 49 shots on goal, becoming the second player at Thiel to make at least 30 in a game. Narby also picked up six ground balls.
Logan Millie (Fairview, Pa./Fairview) scored a quick first goal for the Tomcats to take the early 1-0 lead, followed by Quentin Cato (Rochester, N.Y./Gates Chili) seven minutes later to end the period 2-0.
Franciscan reacted fast in the second, scoring five unanswered goals to take the lead.
Thadd Bell (Erie, Pa./McDowell) scored the lone goal in the second quarter, and Zach Melin (Chardon, Ohio/Chardon) added two in the third, still trailing 14-5.
Bell, Melin and Cato each had two goals on the day, Melin adding an assist. Millie had nine ground balls, while Austin Parker (Titusville, Pa./Maplewood) had seven and 13 face-off wins.
The Tomcats are back in action on Saturday, April 5 when they travel to Washington, Pa. To take on the Presidents. The PAC match-up is scheduled for 12 p.m. at Alexandre Stadium.
