Box Score MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Thiel College Women's Lacrosse Team secured their President's Athletic Conference (PAC) road victory 13-11 to Allegheny College Saturday afternoon on Robertson Blue Turf.
Thiel advances to 10-2 overall and 4-2 in conference play, while the Gators fall to 3-10 on the regular season and 2-4 in the PAC.
To secure the victory, Thiel goalkeeper Madison Liggett (Baltimore, Md./Catholic) was faced with 11 shots in the fourth quarter, making nine saves to shut out the Gators. Liggett had 16 saves on the afternoon after being faced with 36 shots and picked up two ground balls.
Senior Ashlyn Wightman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) had the game winning goal off a free position with 4:12 remaining in the fourth quarter. Freshman Jade Mazzoni (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Salem) scored with 2:33 left in the game to put the icing on the cake for the Tomcats.
After 10 back and forth goals, the Tomcats went on a four goal stretch to end the second quarter to take the 10-9 lead at the half.
Ashlyn had seven goals, an assist and 10 draw controls on the day to lead the Tomcats to victory. Briney Stilinovich (Long Beach, Calif./Los Alamitos) had a pair of goals, while Skylar Garlick (Fort Loudon, Pa./James Buchanan), Hayden Wightman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) and Meg Gill (Columbia, S.C./Blythewood) each added one themselves and Gill had five draw controls.
Defender Emili Scavitto (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) had a game high five ground balls and two caused turnovers, while Aidrianna Green (East Liverpool, Ohio/East Liverpool) had three caused turnovers.
The Tomcats are back in action on Wednesday, April 16 when they host the Chatham Cougars. The PAC contest is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.
