GREENVILLE, Pa. -- The Thiel Softball team went 0-2 in their non-conference match-up with Carlow University Friday night at the Softball Field in Tomcat Park.
The Tomcats fall to 8-6 on the regular season, as Carlow advances to 6-12.
Game 1
In the top of the first, Carlow got up early with four runs from hits to the outfield.
The Celtics secured the 14-0 win with seven runs in the top of the seventh.
Kayley Risser (Reynoldsville, Pa./Dubois Central Catholic), Kylie Heid (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley), and Alaina Fedder (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield Area) each had one hit, including Heid with a triple.
Becca Landis (Kinsman, Ohio/Mathews) threw for 5 innings and had a total of 117 pitches and seven strikeouts. Mackenzie Herman (Greenville, Pa./Reynolds) pitched the last two innings and had three strikeouts.
Game 2
In the bottom of the fourth, Fedder singled to right field to bring Sheila Despenes (Townville, Pa./Maplewood) home to even the score 1-1.
Risser scored off a play made in the infield but was not enough to catch up from Carlow's 5-2 score.
Risser had three hits off four at bats, including a triple and double.
Abby Rottman (Hilliards, Pa./Moniteau) had two hits, and Fedder and Herman each added one, while Fedder and Heid had an RBI.
The Tomcats are back in action on Saturday, March 29 when they travel to Beaver Falls, Pa. To take on Geneve. The PAC double header will begin at 1 p.m. at Merriman Athletic Complex - Bill and Rita Conrady Softball Field.
