Women’s Lacrosse drops road contest to the W&J; Liggett collects 400th career save

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Thiel College Women's Lacrosse team dropped their Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest to Washington and Jefferson College 17-9 Wednesday evening. 

The Tomcats fall to 6-1 on the regular season and 1-1 in conference play, as the Presidents advance to 3-4 overall and 1-1 in the PAC.  

Goalkeeper Madison Liggett (Baltimore, Md./Catholic) grabbed five ground balls, one caused turnover and 16 saves on the night. Liggett's first save of the game was the 400th of her career as she continues to be the program leader in career saves. 

Thiel's Ashlyn Wightman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) and Skylar Garlick (Fort Loudon, Pa./James Buchanan) had back-to-back goals to start the fourth quarter after being down 13-6 after the third quarter to make it 13-7. 

The Tomcats battled with the Presidents in a close 7-5 first half due to goals from Meg Gill (Columbia, S.C./Blythewood), Ashlyn and Hayden Wightman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler)

Ashlyn had seven points, five goals and two assists, while she collected six draw controls, two ground balls and a caused turnover. 

Briney Stilinovich (Long Beach, Calif./Los Alamitos) also had a goal herself, while Gill picked up four draw controls.  

The Tomcats are back in action on Saturday, March 29 when they host the Bethany Bison at the Rissell-Schreyer dome. The PAC contest will begin at 3 p.m. and they will be honoring Morgan's Message.
