GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Thiel College Softball team dropped their Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) double header 2-1 and 10-0 to Grove City Saturday afternoon.
The Tomcats fall to 6-4 on the regular season and 0-2 in conference play, as the Wolverines advance to 9-4 on the season and 2-0 in the PAC.
Game 1
In the top of the sixth inning, Kayley Risser (Reynoldsville, Pa./Dubois Central Catholic) was walked by the pitcher and then brought home by Dani Ficeti (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) with a hit to left field to put Thiel on the board.
Ficeti had one hit and an RBI, while Jensen Stehlik (Sagamore Hills, Ohio/Nordonia) and Ava Gilmore (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex Area) had one hit themselves.
Grove City scored in the third and fifth innings off hits to the outfield to give them the early 2-0 lead.
Pitcher Becca Landis (Kinsman, Ohio/Mathews) pitched six innings and threw seven strikeouts.
Game 2
Grove City took the early lead in the first inning with five runs scored off a home run, and multiple doubles to center field.
Abby Rottman (Hilliards, Pa./Moniteau) and Mackenzie Herman (Greenville, Pa./Reynolds) both singled to the outfield to give Thiel their only two hits of the game.
The Wolverines added two runs in the third and three in the fourth to end the game 10-0 in five innings.
Looking Ahead
The Tomcats are back in action on Tuesday, March 26 when they host Franciscan for their first home games of the season. The PAC double header will begin at 3:30 at the Softball Field in Tomcat Park.
