LATROBE, Pa. -- The Thiel College Women's Lacrosse team picked up their sixth straight win over Saint Vincent 15-5 to continue their best start in program history Friday night at UMPC Field for their first Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match of the season.
The Tomcats advance to 6-0 on the regular season and 1-0 in conference play, as the Bearcats drop to 2-5 overall and 0-1 in the PAC.
A pair of goals from senior Ashlyn Wightman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) and one from freshman Jade Mazzoni (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Salem) gave Thiel the quick 3-0 lead in the first quarter.
Ashlyn had a game high of 10 goals, 9 draw controls, and three ground balls.
Mazzoni notched two more as Ashlyn had three in the bottom of the third to take the 12-3 lead.
Hayden Wightman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) and Briney Stilinovich (Long Beach, Calif./Los Alamitos) each added a goal in the fourth to secure the 15-5 victory over the Bearcats.
Goalkeeper Madison Liggett (Baltimore, Md./Catholic) made 10 saves on the night while picking up five ground balls.
The Tomcats are back in action on Wednesday, March 26 when they take on the Washington & Jefferson Presidents in looks to secure their seventh straight win of the season. The PAC match-up will begin at 6 p.m. at Alexandre Stadium in Washington, Pa.
