HAMBURG, N.Y. -- The Thiel College Women's lacrosse team collects their fifth straight win of the season over Hilbert College 15-3 Monday evening.
Hilbert falls to 0-3 as the Tomcats advance to 5-0 on the season, giving them the best start in program history.
Ashlyn Wightman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) had two goals in the third and two in the fourth quarter to help Thiel outscore Hilbert 6-0 in the second half to secure the win over the Hawks.
Ashlyn had six goals on the night, along with six draw controls, six ground balls, four caused turnovers and one assist.
Skylar Garlick (Fort Loudon, Pa./James Buchanan) picked up four goals, five caused turnovers, four draw controls, three ground balls and also dished out an assist.
Hayden Wightman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) and Meg Gill (Columbia, S.C./Blythewood) added goals to Thiel's tally in the first half to give them the 6-2 lead in the second, while Jade Mazzoni (New Alexandria, Pa./Greensburg Salem) picked up two herself.
Goalkeeper Madison Liggett (Baltimore, Md./Catholic) was faced with nine shots on goal, made six saves and picked up four ground balls.
The Tomcats are back in action on Friday, March 21st when they travel to Latrobe, Pa. to take on the Saint Vincent Bearcats. This will be Thiel's first conference game of the season and will begin at 7 p.m. at UMPC Field.
