GREENVILLE, Pa – The Thiel Men's Soccer team tied Chatham University 1-1 in a thrilling battle Wednesday Night from Alumni Stadium at Stoeber Field.
Thiel is now 3-6-1 (0-2-1) on the regular season as the Cougars are 2-6-3 (0-1-2).
Back and forth for most of the first half, Chatham got on the board first, taking the 1-0 lead.
Not even 30 seconds later, sophomore Andy Mangold (Bradford, Pa./Bradford Area) was awarded a penalty kick and tied the game at one a piece.
Despite being outshot 16-5, the Tomcats lock down defense was able to keep the Cougars from taking the lead.
Mitchell Strauss (Bradford, Pa./Bradford Area) led the offense with two shots, Mason Melaragno (Erie, Pa./Fairview), Logan Smith (Girard, Pa./Girard), and Mangold each had one.
In net, Bryce Stefanowicz (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) made six saves.
The Tomcats return to action on Saturday, October 4 when they take on the Grove City Wolverines on the road at 1:00 p.m.
