BRADFORD, Pa. – The Thiel College men's soccer team defeated the Pitt Bradford Panthers, 3-1, on the road Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Tomcats improve to 4-0, their best start since they started 3-1 in 2018.
Graduate student
AJ Trobek (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) got the Tomcats on the board in the 17
th minute, before Bailee Verdill knotted the score up at 1-1 for the Panthers.
Freshman
Mitchell Strauss (Bradford Pa./Bradford Area) scored the would-be game winning goal in the 55
th minute, before
Neko Hatton (Bryans Road, Md./Henry E. Lackey) gave the Tomcats' an insurance goal in the 79
th minute.
Thiel was led by Trobek who recorded two shots, including two shots and one goal. Trobek has scored in every game this season. Strauss notched his first collegiate goal, while Hatton recorded a goal.
Joey Hillyer (Poland, Ohio/Poland) recorded an assist.
Pitt Bradford was led by Verdill who recorded six shots, including four on goal and one goal. Will Smith recorded an assist.
Bryce Stefanowicz (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) recorded the win for the Tomcats, recorded six saves.
Christopher House started in goal for the Panthers, recording five saves.
The Tomcats are back in action on Wednesday when they host the Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets under the lights at Alumni Stadium. The non-conference game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
