GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Thiel College women's volleyball team defeated the La Roche Redhawks and Grove City Wolverines Saturday at the Westminster-Grove City Tournament.
Thiel defeated La Roche 3-1, before coming back from a 0-2 deficit to defeat Grove City 3-2.
Game One: Thiel 3, La Roche 1
La Roche took the first set 25-21, before Thiel took the next three sets 25-16, 25-19, 25-10.
Thiel was led by
Daisy Jenness (Pendleton, Ore./Pendleton) who recorded 20 kills.
Arin DeLattre (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) recorded 13 kills and four blocks, while
Erica Gregory (Clinton Township, Mich./Fraser) recorded 11 kills, three service aces and 15 digs.
Carlie Reynolds (Grove City, Pa./Grove City Area) recorded a game-high 32 assists, while
Danielle Aulet (Lawrence, Kansas/Mineral Ridge) recorded a team-high 22 digs.
La Roche was led by Kalli Grine who notched eight kills and two blocks. Brooke Bednarski recorded 21 assists, while Kenzie Kerkan recorded a game-best 25 digs.
Game Two: Thiel 3, Grove City 2
Grove City won the first two sets 25-16, 25-22 before the Tomcats won the next three sets 25-21, 25-19, 15-23.
Thiel was led by Jenness who recorded a notched a career-best 29 kills. Gregory recorded 13 kills and 13 digs, while DeLattre recorded two blocks and two assists. Reynolds recorded 33 assists, while Aulet recorded 28 digs.
Grove City was led by Lily Lagaras who recorded 11 kills and three service aces. Brooklyn Wirebaugh recorded six service aces. Julia Fisher recorded a game-best 30 digs.
The Tomcats return to Maenpa Court at Beeghly Gymnasium on Wednesday when they host the Penn State Behrend Lions. The non-conference game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
