NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel College women's volleyball team split a pair of non-conference games with the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) and Westminster Friday afternoon.
The Tomcats lost to the Tigers 3-1, before beating the host Titans 3-2.
Game One: RIT 3, Thiel 1
RIT won with set scores of 15-25, 25-20, 26-24, 25-19.
Thiel was led by
Daisy Jenness (Pendleton, Ore./Pendleton) who recorded 18 kills.
Erica Gregory (Clinton Township, Mich./Fraser) recorded seven kills and three service aces, whie
Arin DeLattre (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) recorded seven kills, two service aces and one block.
Carlie Reynolds (Grove City, Pa./Grove City Area) recorded 33 assists, while
Danielle Aulet (Lawrence, Kansas/Mineral Ridge) recorded 18 digs.
RIT was led by Mia Gerber who recorded 13 kills. Sydney Neff recorded seven service aces, while Hailey Blixt recorded a game-high 27 digs.
Game Two: Thiel 3, Westminster 2
Thiel took the first set 25-21, before Westminster tied the match with a 25-23 second set win. Thiel won set three, 25-21, with Westminster winning set four, 26-16, before Thiel took the final set 16-14.
Thiel was led by Jenness who recorded a career-best 28 kills. Gregory recorded 11 kills, while
Kelly Peplowski (Hubbard, Ohio/Ursuline) recorded four blocks. Reynolds recorded 43 assists, while Aulet recorded 32 digs. Gregory also recorded 29 digs.
Westminster was led by Ava Ferringer who recorded 12 kills. Morgan O'Brien recorded three service aces, while Angie Nardone recorded 29 assists. Olivia Trent recorded a team-high 32 digs.
The Tomcats return to action on Saturday when they head to Grove City for a pair of non-conference games. Thiel is scheduled to play La Roche at 2 p.m., before playing Grove City at 4 p.m.
