Blatt’s hat trick leads Thiel over Penn State New Kensington

Blatt's hat trick is the first for the Tomcats since 2018

GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's soccer team defeated the Penn State New Kensington Lions, 4-0, Wednesday night, under the lights at Alumni Stadium.

Senior Hunter Blatt (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) got the first of his three goals eight minutes into the match to give Thiel an early 1-0 lead.

Blatt then gave the Tomcats a 2-0 lead just three minutes into the second half, before Ethan Bihler (Bossier City, La./Benton) added a third goal in the 85th minute. Blatt scored his third goal with just over 30 seconds remaining in the match.

Blatt's hat trick is the first for a men's soccer player since Zachary Oliver scored three goals in a 7-0 win over Hilbert on September 12, 2018.

Thiel was led by Blatt who recorded three goals. Bihler scored his first collegiate goal, while Derek Thomas (Poland, Ohio/Poland) and AJ Trobek (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) each recorded an assist.
Trey Grazier (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) recorded two shots, while Neko Hatton (Bryans Road, Md./Henry E. Lackey) recorded one shot.

The Lions were led by Ethan Krystak who recorded three shots. Dylan Shaw and Carson Zadylak recorded one shot apiece.

In goal for Thiel, sophomore Bryce Stefanowicz (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) recorded his second shutout of the season, and the third of his career. He made one save in the shutout win.

For the Lions, Kenton Knox recorded three saves.

The Tomcats will open Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play on Friday, September 27 when they host the Saint Vincent Bearcats. The PAC game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
