BETHANY, W.Va. – Thiel College senior midfielder
Ashlyn Wightman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) set a new school standard for career points (297) Saturday in the Tomcats' 17-5 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) win on the road over the Bethany Bison.
Wightman scored a game-best 10 goals Saturday to get to 297, surpassing Cassy Mahdi (296) who held the record since 2015. Wightman broke Mahdi's career goals record earlier this season.
Wightman also tallied 11 draw controls, seven ground balls and six caused turnovers Saturday.
Skylar Garlick (Fort Loudon, Pa./James Buchanan) recorded five points (3G, 2A).
Jocelyn Denihan (Conneautville, Pa/Conneaut Area) scored two goals and assisted on a goal (3 points).
Jada Carter paced the Bison with three goals.
Madison Liggett (Baltimore, Md./Catholic) made 10 saves for the Tomcats.
Thiel (9-6, 5-4 PAC) earned the fifth seed in this week's PAC Championship Tournament. The Tomcats will face the fourth-seeded Chatham Cougars (9-7, 6-3 PAC) on the road Tuesday in a quarterfinal game. The contest is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
