Cougars edge Tomcats

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Thiel College women's lacrosse team lost a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game Wednesday on the road to the Chatham Cougars, 9-6.
 
Ashlyn Wightman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) cut Chatham's lead down to 6-5 at halftime when she scored with 6:26 remaining in the second quarter. However, the Cougars went on to increase their lead to 8-5 early in the fourth quarter and allowed the Tomcats to score just once in the second half to secure the conference win.
 
Wightman scored a game-high four goals to go along with four draw controls, four ground balls and a caused turnover. Heaven Fitch (Baltimore, Md./Greater Grace Christian Academy) scored two goals.
 
Felicia Hutter led Chatham with five points (3G, 2A). Bailey Donofrio scored three goals.
 
Madison Liggett (Baltimore, Md./Catholic) made a season-high 17 saves for the Tomcats. Meghan Cuza-Berry made eight saves for the Cougars.
 
The Tomcats will conclude regular season play Saturday when they take on the Bethany Bison on the road. The PAC game is set to start at 4 p.m.
