GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's volleyball team lost an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) match at Maenpa Court at Beeghly Gymnasium Friday to the Saint Vincent Bearcats, 3-2.
Saint Vincent won the first two sets (27-25, 25-19), but Thiel went on to win the third and fourth frames (25-18, 27-25). The Bearcats earned the conference victory with a 19-17 win in the fifth set.
Will Zimmerman (Cranberry, Pa./Seneca Valley) led Thiel with 13 kills.
David Gonzalez (El Paso, Texas/Eastwood) recorded 21 digs and 12 kills.
James Cromwell-Young (Virginia Beach, Va./Green Run) contributed 10 kills while
Eli Olszowka (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) had 37 assists and
Cameron Long (Rock Hill, S.C./Legion Collegiate Academy) registered 17 digs.
Saint Vincent's Shawn McSwiggen led all players with 29 kills while also recording 20 digs. Zach Wyant handed out 45 assists while Matthew Klasnic had 23 digs. Rocco Marino contributed nine blocks.
The Tomcats will host the Mount Aloysius Mounties on Sunday, March 17. The AMCC match will begin at 3 p.m.
