BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Thiel College men's volleyball team defeated the Geneva Golden Tornadoes, 3-1, in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) game on the road Saturday afternoon.
The Tomcats took the first set 25-22 before the Golden Tornadoes evened the score with a set two win of 25-20. The Tomcats would take the next two sets 25-17, 25-16 to win the match.
Thiel was led by
David Gonzalez (El Paso, Texas/Eastwood) who recorded 12 kills, 12 digs and a block.
Will Zimmerman (Cranberry, Pa./Seneca Valley) recorded 15 kills and four digs, while
Kaleb Proudfoot (Butler, Pa./Butler) recorded 10 kills and a block.
Josh Pugh (Wexford, Pa./Pine Richland) recorded four service aces, while
Cameron Long (Rock Hill, S.C./Legion Collegiate Academy) recorded a team-high 15 digs.
Eli Olszowka (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) recorded 46 assists.
Geneva was led by Andrew Ubinger who recorded 12 kills and 12 digs. Carter Milroy recorded 10 kills and 17 digs, while Owen Kelley recorded nine kills.
The Tomcats will continue their road trip when they head to Hilbert on Wednesday. The AMCC match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
