FORT PIERCE, Fla. – The Thiel College baseball team dropped a non-conference game to the Washington Shoremen, 19-4, Friday morning at the Lawnwood Complex in Florida.
Thiel was led by
Nathen Prunty (Elyria, Ohio/Keystone) who extended his hitting streak to seven games. Prunty went 1-for-2 on the day.
Joey Schimizzi (Willowick, Ohio/Willoughby South) went 1-for-2 with three RBIs, while
Kolten Kruszewski (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) got his first collegiate hit.
Brady Rzodkiewicz (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek) started on the mound for the Tomcats, striking out two.
Nathan Doutt (Edinboro, Pa./General McClane),
Dillon Belknap (Lagrange, Ohio/Keystone) and
Dennis Fedele (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) all pitched in relief, with Fedele earning his first collegiate strikeout. He finished with three strikeouts.
Washington was led by Logan Yi who went 4-for-4 with 5 RBIs and a homerun. Will Turner went 3-for-5 with three RBIs, while Pete Kokinis went1-for-1 with two RBIs and two walks.
Matt Herbert got the start for the Shoremen, going six innings and striking out three. Vincent Bawden pitched an inning in relief.
The Tomcats will close out their spring training trip on Saturday when they play the Lasell Lasers. The non-conference game is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
