FORT PIERCE, Fla. – The Thiel College baseball team lost a non-conference game to the Earlham Quakers, 11-1, Monday afternoon at the Lawnwood Complex in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Earlham scored three runs in the first inning, and never looked back.
Thiel was led by
Ethan Bintrim (New Castle, Pa./Shenango) who went 2-for-2 with two doubles.
Mike Sittig (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley) continued his good start to the season, going 1-for-3 and driving in the Tomcats only run. Sittig is currently on a five-game hitting streak, dating back to last season.
Nathen Prunty (Elyria, Ohio/Keystone) went 1-for-3 at the plate, while
Colton Brightwell (Eighty Four, Pa./Bentworth) went 2-for-2 at the dish.
Brady Rzodkiewicz (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek) got his first collegiate start, going three innings and striking out three batters.
Dillon Belknap (Lagrange, Ohio/Keystone),
Josh Ickes (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) and
Josh Daum (Tionesta, Pa./North Clarion) all pitched in relief.
Earlham was led by Noah Rosato who went 2-for-4 and four RBIs. Ian Bullis went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, while Max Fries went 1-for-2 with an RBI.
Braeden Lewis earned the win for the Quakers, pitching a complete game, giving up six hits and one run.
The Tomcats will look to get back in the win column when they play The College of Wooster Scots on Tuesday in Florida. The non-conference game is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
