WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel College men's basketball team lost a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game on the road to the Washington and Jefferson Presidents, 75-66, Saturday afternoon.
The opening 12 minutes of the game was back and forth as the Tomcats and Presidents saw the game tied seven times, including 13 lead changes.
Thiel held a 29-28 lead with just under four minutes remaining in the half, but a Washington and Jefferson scoring run of 11-1 to close out the half gave the Presidents a 39-30 lead at halftime.
The second half was all Washington and Jefferson, as they would lead by as many as 19.
Thiel was led by
Ethan Barnes (Boynton Beach, Fla./Suncoast) who recorded 15 points and five rebounds.
Jonah Biggers (Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall) recorded nine points and nine boards, while
Mike Brown (Clinton, Md./Gwynn Park) recorded nine points, including going 7-for-7 from the charity stripe.
Washington and Jefferson was led by Matthew Carte who recorded a game-high 17 points. Brandon Jakiela recorded 15 points, while Alex Acosta recorded 10 points and 11 boards.
As a team, the Tomcats shot 91 percent from the charity stripe.
The Tomcats are idle midweek, before hosting the Grove City Wolverines on Saturday for senior day. The PAC game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
