FREDERICK, Md. – The Thiel College men's volleyball team won a pair of non-conference matches Saturday at Hood College in Frederick, Md.
Thiel won both matches 3-0 over the Immaculata Mighty Macs and the Hood Blazers.
In the first match of the day Thiel defeated Immaculata by set scores of 25-13, 25-14, 25-16.
Will Zimmerman (Cranberry, Pa./Seneca Valley) led the Tomcats against the Mighty Macs with match-bests in kills (10) and aces (6). Zimmerman also led his team with eight digs.
Ben Lowell (Portland, Ore./Sunset) led all players with 29 assists while
James Cromwell-Young (Virginia Beach, Va./Green Run) registered eight kills.
The Tomcats defeated the Blazers by set scores of 25-16, 25-17, 25-11.
Zimmerman and
David Gonzalez (El Paso, Texas/Eastwood) led Thiel against Hood with eight and seven kills, respectively. Zimmerman,
Jake Dies (Cambridge Springs, Pa./Cambridge Springs) and
Kaleb Proudfoot (Butler, Pa./Butler) tallied three blocks apiece.
Josh Pugh (Wexford, Pa./Pine Richland) and
Tyler Hussey (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) combined for seven aces.
Eli Olszowka (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) and Lowell combined for 28 assists while
Cameron Long (Rock Hill, S.C./Legion Collegiate Academy) tallied eight digs.
Thiel will host the Chatham Cougars Monday at Maenpa Court at Beeghly Gymnasium. The non-conference match will start at 7 p.m.
