GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College football team defeated the Saint Vincent Bearcats, 20-10, in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at Alumni Stadium Saturday afternoon.

The Tomcats won the coin toss, and elected to defer their choice to the second half.
The Bearcats started their opening drive at their own 40 yard-line, after an 11-yard return. The Bearcats would march down the field, capping off a 14-play, 60-yard drive with a touchdown to take an early 7-0 lead.
On the Tomcats' opening drive of the game, they started at their own 25-yard line. A couple of runs gave the Tomcats a couple of first downs, before a sack on first down stalled the drive.
On the ensuing Saint Vincent drive, it took just one play for the Tomcats to get the ball right back.
Thomas Howard (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) broke up a pass, before
Justin Logan (North Chesterfield, Va./James River) picked off the pass.
However, the Tomcats would turn the ball over on downs, and would not be able to capitalize off the turnover.
The Tomcats would get another takeaway on the next Bearcat possession, this time with
Jake Badger (Mercer, Pa./Mercer Area) picking off the pass, setting the Tomcats up near midfield.
Again, the Tomcats would not be able to capitalize on the interception, fumbling the ball on the next possession to give it right back to the Bearcats.
However, with just over two minutes until halftime, the Tomcats would put the finishing touches on a 12-play, 90-yard touchdown drive that was capped off with
Deon Logan (Richmond, Va./James River) punching the ball in from three yards out to tie the game at 7-7.
Saint Vincent would add a field goal with eight seconds in the first half to take a 10-7 lead into halftime.
The Bearcats would force a Tomcat three-and-out on the first possession of the second half, before the Tomcats would return the favor on the Bearcats first second half possession.
The third quarter would remain a defensive battle, with only one drive that ended inside the red zone.
The Tomcats would get the ball with 10:01 remaining in the game, starting the drive at their own one yardline.
A 14-play, 99-yard drive, capped of with a
Blake Joseph (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) game-winning touchdown catch from
Daniel Rennie (Cape Coral, Fla./Oasis) gave the Tomcats a 14-10 lead with 1:57 remaining in the game.
Thiel forced a Saint Vincent turnover-on-downs, capped off by an
Alexander Mittner (New Brighton, Pa./New Brighton) sack that gave the Tomcats the ball at the Bearcat 13 yardline.
Jayveerh White (Sharon, Pa./Sharon) took a 4
th-and-eight pass to the endzone to secure the win for the Tomcats.
Thiel was led by Rennie who went 24-for-31 for 271 yards and two touchdown passes.
On the ground,
Deon Logan (Richmond, Va./James River) led Thiel with 73 yards and a rushing touchdown.
Marquis Tarver (Dickinson, Texas/Clear Falls) ran for 18 yards, while Rennie added six yards on the ground.
Through the air,
Jayveerh White (Sharon, Pa./Sharon) caught four passes for 89 yards and one touchdown.
Ryan Acosta (El Paso, Texas/Americas) added 71 yards on five catches, including a 34-yard catch that set the Tomcats up in the red zone for the game-winning touchdown.
Defensively,
Luke Faber (Greenville, Pa./Reynolds) led the way with 11 tackles.
Chad Morningstar (Saxton, Pa./Tussey Mountain) added six tackles, while
Jake Badger (Mercer, Pa./Mercer Area) notched six tackles and one interception. Mittner recorded five tackles, including two sacks, one of which was the game-sealing sack. Logan added an interception, and
Chris Bloomfield (Boynton Beach, Fla./Boca Raton) and Howard both broke up one pass.
For Saint Vincent, Lance Bender went 13-for-28 for 130 yards and two interceptions.
On the ground, Billy Beck added 48 yards and one touchdown, while Isaiah Sosak added 23 yards.
Keegan O'Brien added 57 yards on four catches, while Austin Wells caught three passes for 43 yards.
Defensively for the Bearcats, Nathan Parker notched 12 tackles, while Wiley Purry added nine tackles and one forced fumble.
The Tomcats hit the road when they travel to Waynesburg on Saturday. The PAC game is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
