GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's soccer team dropped a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game to the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets, 7-1, under the lights at Alumni Stadium Wednesday night.
Waynesburg scored three goal in the first 27 minutes of the match, before the Tomcats were able to pull one back.
Neko Hatton (Bryans Road, Md./Henry E. Lackey) put the ball in the back of the net off a pass from
Mitchell Strauss (Bradford Pa./Bradford Area).
With his assist, Strauss set a new single-season assist record with his eighth assist.
Waynesburg added one more goal before halftime to go into the half up 4-1.
Three second half goals would round out the scoring.
Thiel was led by Hatton, who recorded his third goal of the season. Strauss recorded his eighth assist of the season.
Ethan Bihler (Bossier City, La./Benton) recorded two shots.
Waynesburg was led by Josh Smith who recorded one goal and two assists. Michael Kanu recorded one goal and one assist.
In goal for Thiel,
Bryce Stefanowicz (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) got the start, recorded one save.
Kevin Gilroy (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Cuyahoga Falls) played 61:53, making four saves.
Michael Francus got the start for Waynesburg, making five saves.
The Tomcats will head to Franciscan on Saturday. The PAC game is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
