GREENVILLE, Pa. (Oct. 26) -- The Thiel College women's volleyball team, behind 10 service aces, notched a 3-0 league victory over back-to-back Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) champions Bethany College Saturday afternoon on Senior Day inside Maenpa Court at Beeghly Gymnasium.
The victory moved the Tomcats to 16-6 overall and 4-3 in the PAC. The Bison fell to 7-17 overall and 0-6 in conference matches.
The home side posted straight-set score wins of 27-25, 25-12 and 25-19.
The first set featured 14 ties and seven lead changes as neither side held a lead greater than 3 until the Tomcats used a 3-0 run to hold a 22-18 advantage. A

The Tomcats carried the momentum into set two and jumped to a quick 10-3 lead. The Bison cut the deficit to 5 (13-8), but an
Arin DeLattre (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) kill spearheaded a 4-1 spurt that grew the lead back up to 8 (17-9). Thiel closed the set with a pair of blocks as
Caitlin Stephens (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex) combined with Jenness and
Lyndzee Amory (Edinboro, Pa./Saegertown) to seal the dominant second set. The Tomcats held the Bison to a -.132 hitting percentage in the frame.
Leading 7-3 in set three, the Tomcats used a 7-0 run, with 5 of those points coming on
Carlie Reynolds (Grove City, Pa./Grove City Area) service aces, to push the lead to 14-3. Bethany made a late run in the set but a DeLattre kill sealed the Senior Day sweep. The home side led by as many as 12 (20-8 and 21-9) in the final frame and posted 8 of their 10 aces in the set.
Reynolds posted a career and game-best six aces to go with a match-leading 41 assists.
