Second half scoring lifts Cougars over Tomcats

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Thiel College men's soccer team lost a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game to the Chatham Cougars, 4-2, on the road Wednesday afternoon.

Chatham got on the board early, taking a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute. They extended their lead to 2-0 in the 18th minute.

Hunter Blatt (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) got the Tomcats on the board in the 24th minute, cutting the Cougar lead in half heading into halftime.

Mitchell Strauss (Bradford Pa./Bradford Area) scored just six seconds into the second half to equalize.

However, two Chatham goals gave the hosts a 4-2 lead, and that would be all they needed.

Chatham outshot Thiel 14-7.

Thiel was led by Blatt who recorded one goal. AJ Trobek (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) notched two shots, while Strauss also recorded one goal. Ethan Bihler (Bossier City, La./Benton) recorded an assist.

For Chatham, Azavier Coppin recorded one goal and one assist. Emilio Herrera and Justin Knox also recorded one goal apiece.

In net for Thiel, Bryce Stefanowicz (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) recorded two saves. His counterpart, Chatham's Maxwell Cottrill recorded one save.

The Tomcats will return to Alumni Stadium on Saturday when they host the Grove City Wolverines. The PAC match is scheduled to begin at noon.
